Toronto-based writer is very cautiously returning to the world of dating.
I am a bit of a walking contradiction: I love to read but I also love mountain biking, squash and intense physical activity. I work by myself and am fine with that, but also enjoy the company of friends, family and acquaintances. I'm a homebody who also enjoys a good party with friends or family.
I enjoy smart humour (Monty Python, SCTV, Little Britain, even Trailer Park Boys)and good movies. My favourite films are generally from the 1970s: Five Easy Pieces, Deliverance, Taxi Driver, The Wild Bunch and the Godfather Part One and Two.
I enjoy an extremely wide variety of music, from Motorhead to Natalie Merchant. Am patricularly fond of female singer-songwriters (Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, etc), late 1970s Brit punk, the Who (esp. live), the Stones (classic period '68 - 73), Beatles, REM, MC5, 10,000 Maniacs (Natalie again), the Stooges, etc.
I don't drink or smoke (or consume soft drinks for that matter) and would rather not hang out with smokers or drunks.
I am a self-employed professional writer. I write for trade magazines, gov't and corporate clients. I also write non-fiction books (mostly true crime) on the side. I enjoy writing all by myself, but I also like giving readings and seminars and attending readings and seminars.
Am currently separated. Would love to find a fellow female writer or reader, if possible.
